1628-1795: From 'Rōnin-Komosō' Beggar to 'Rōnin-Komusō' Pseudo-monk:
- The Questionable Fabrication of "Family Trees" via Shinchi Kakushin
and Fuke Zenji back to Shakyamuni Buddha (Siddhartha Gautama), himself.
BACKGROUND:
1628: In the Kaidō honsoku it is stated very clearly that the 'Komosō' "mat monks" had no origin, no history -
that is of course apart from their very well expressed honoring Chinese Monk Fuke as their number one ideological role model:
1628: The Kaidō honsoku Fuke-komosō Credo Version 1
Early 1640s: Rinzai Zen abbot Isshi Bunshu invents and names the 'Komusō, inserts Shinchi Kakushin/Hottō Kokushi
and some "four Chinese Buddhist laymen" into shakuhachi history.
1646 at the latest: Abbot Isshi Bunshu's Letter to
"a Proto-Komusō" named Sandō Mugetsu
Late 1640s-1650s?: Somehow, somewhen?, a top header "celebrating" Hottō Kokushi and those four Buddhist laymen
is added to some copy, maybe even the original?, of the Kaidō honsoku.
Late 1640s?: The Kaidō honsoku "Version 3" Copy
1664: Hottō Kokushi appears for the first time in public messaging as "founder" of the 'Komusō'.
1664: The Shichiku shoshinshū Music Treatise
by Nakamura Sōsan. The First 'Komusō'
'Shakuhachi-Rōnin' Ever Witnessed in Kyōto?
1735: The name 'Kyochiku', the alleged Myōan Shakuhachi Tradition "founder", and also "temple founder"?, appears for the very first time in print.
1735: Kyōto Myōan-ji Temple Chief Administrator
Kandō Ichiyū's Letter about 'Sankyorei-fu',
the "Three Non-Dual Spirit Music Notations"
1795: Still, in the Kyotaku denki document, only 'Kichiku', not 'Kyochiku', is mentioned!
After ca. 1665? to 1795: The Kyotaku denki Original Text,
1981 edition, the Kyotaku denki kokujikai Illustrations,
and Tsuge Gen'ichi's 1977 Translation
1795:
The All Invented 'Shahuhachi' "Ancestors" Presented in Kyotaku denki:
The sixteen generations of the fake Chō family.
Source: Tsuge Gen'ichi, 1977, page 49.
Four centuries of fake ancestors from 1254 to a. 1644
beginning with Shinchi Kakushin and Kichiku, ending with Ton'ō and Mufū.
Not a single date of death is given there.

Nakatsuka Chikuzen, 1979 (orig. 1936-1939): 2 Genealogies with Kyochiku Zenji at the Top.
On pages 144-147, the Nakatsuka Chikuzen 1979 re-issued publication presents a Kyōto Myōan Temple "ancestors" list
in which the last listed patriarch personality mentioned is the 31st Myōan Tradition "leader" named 'Dōko Dōshi Zenji',
堂固塔司禅師,
who, acc. to the list, died in Ka'ei year 3 (1850), on the 23rd day of the 4th month.
The precise Western equivalent of which is, of course:
March 6, 1850 - ref. Zöllner/Tsuchihashi, the Nengo Calc web service:
Link: http://bibliothek.kyoto.uni-tuebingen.de/NengoCalc/index.htm
Ryōen Kyochiku 'Zenji' is listed as "founder" of 'Myōan Shakuhachi',
his precise date of death given as Einin year 6 (1298), 7th month, 28th day.
Precise Western equivalent: May 9th, 1298.
Source: http://bibliothek.kyoto.uni-tuebingen.de/NengoCalc/index.htm.
How come that "1298" is the exact same death year as that of Shinchi Kakushin's
who is known to have lived from 1207 to 1298?
The concluding entry in this document (page 150, far left) features the alleged
34th temple leader named 'Saku-hi koji',
咋非居士, i.e. "Layman" Saku-hi.
Saku-hi's date of death is given precisely as Meiji 28 (1895), 9th month, 10th day,
i.e. September 10, 1895.
