The Two Decades Old ESS/European Shakuhachi Society Keeps On Lying
About Shakuhachi History! Why May That Be So?
Now, just look at this:
Here is what it says on the ESS online "Shakuhachi Glossary" web page:
"Fuke-shū
(普化宗)
The Fuke sect of Rinzai Zen.
The sect in which the shakuhachi playing komusō monks belonged.
The founder is considered as being Pǔhuà
(普化, Jap. Fuke) (c.800–66) from China,
but no writings remains about the sect in China.
It is written in Kyotaku Denki Kokujikai that the Japanese branch of the Fuke sect
was founded by Shinchi Kakushin
(心地覺心)
(1207–98),
who brought it from China.
The use of shakuhachi as a tool for religious practice was implemented."
CRUSHING COMMENTS to that ESS "Shakuhachi Glossary" text
NO: The so-called "Fuke Sect" has nothing whatsoever to do with "Rinzai Zen"!
NO: Therefore, [Edo Period] komusō were not members of any such "sect", period!
NO: As there was never any such "Rinzai sect", Chinese Fuke could of course neither have been "a founder", could he?
SO: Of course, "no writings remains [sic] about the sect in China", because it never existed!
NO: That text being referred to there is titled Kyotaku denki!
SO, Of course: There was no Japanese "branch" of a never existed "Chinese branch" -
NO: No so-called 'Shakuhachi' was "brought to Japan in 1254, by Shinchi Kakushin!
Oh, NO: That narrative about "religious practice" (whatever that means?) was made up so many centuries later,
out of whole cloth. Forget it!
Why do the responsible ESS persons keep on lying about these matters for obviously no possible, thinkable reasons at all - unless:
Some strange kind of a "conspiracy" ... ?
Cheers - Sincerely Yours
